2nd KLM House in the Caribbean

Royal Dutch Airlines celebrated its 103rd anniversary with a replica of the monumental Ecury family home on Aruba, in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. The island will be marking a centenary of aviation in 2023, while the Ecury House – now part of the National Archaeological Museum of Aruba – is close to the site where once the first aircraft landed. Cas Ecury, located in the city of Oranjestad was built in 1929. Entrepreneur Dundun Ecury played an important role in the development of aviation on the island. His son, Boy Ecury, studied in the Netherlands and became a resistance hero during the Second World War. He was betrayed and executed in 1944.

Cas Ecury, nicknamed the Green House features a facade with classical elements, Caribbean gingerbread detailing and other local decorative elements. This imposing and harmonious ensemble is a unique creation by the architect Dada Picus.
