On October 7, 2023, KLM presented its latest Delft blue house no. 104, a replica of the historic train station in Valkenburg. the oldest in the Netherlands! Valkenburg Station opened in 1853, as a stop on the Netherlands’ first international railroad line, Maastricht-Aachen. It was built in the style of English neo-Gothic, inspired by King Willem II’s palace in Tilburg. Blocks of locally quarried marlstone were used for construction. With 23 towers, battlements, and pointed arches in Tudor style, Valkenburg Station looks like a castle.
